1
Be specific in your prompts
Include the format you want (bullet points, essay, table), the length, the audience, and the tone. More context leads to better output.
2
Use Think Deeper for hard problems
Toggle Think Deeper on for math, coding, analysis, or multi step questions. It is free and unlimited, so err on the side of using it.
3
Upload files for context
Instead of describing a document, upload it. Copilot can read and analyze PDFs, spreadsheets, images, and documents directly.
4
Use follow up questions
Treat Copilot like a conversation. If the first answer is not quite right, ask it to adjust the tone, add more detail, or focus on a different angle.
5
Try the Edge sidebar
For any webpage, click the Copilot icon in Edge to summarize, ask questions, or compose text based on what you are reading.
Copilot for students
Copilot includes a Study mode that is specifically designed for learning. Ask it to explain concepts step by step, quiz you on a topic, or help you outline an essay. Since Think Deeper is free and unlimited, students get access to advanced reasoning without paying for a subscription.
Copilot Pages for collaboration
When Copilot generates something useful (an outline, a draft, a plan), click "Open in Pages" to move it to a collaborative canvas. You can edit the content, ask Copilot for further refinements, and share the page with others for real time collaboration.
