Custom node quality varies
Unlike a curated app store, anyone can publish a custom node. Some extensions are well maintained and tested; others may break after ComfyUI updates, conflict with other nodes, or have security issues. Stick to widely used, actively maintained nodes (check the GitHub star count and last commit date). The ComfyUI Manager shows installation counts, which is a reasonable quality signal. When a workflow breaks after an update, the custom nodes are usually the first thing to check.
Installing custom nodes
Install the ComfyUI Manager first (it comes pre installed in the Desktop app). Then click the Manager button in the ComfyUI menu, search for the node you need, and click Install. Restart ComfyUI after installation. If a shared workflow requires nodes you do not have, the Manager can detect and install missing nodes automatically.
