Storyboard: Frame by Frame Control

Plus and Pro1 min read

Step 1: Describe the overall concept

Write a brief description of the full video. Sora can auto-generate a storyboard from this.

Step 2: Edit individual segments

Adjust descriptions, durations, camera angles, and reference images for each segment.

Step 3: Add reference images

Upload photos or illustrations for specific frames to guide the visual style and composition.

Step 4: Generate and iterate

Generate the full video, review the output, and remix or adjust individual segments as needed.

Video generation tips

  • Be very specific about camera movement: "slow dolly forward," "aerial tracking shot," "static wide angle"
  • Describe lighting explicitly: "golden hour," "overcast diffused light," "neon lit nighttime"
  • Use storyboard mode for anything longer than a few seconds to maintain narrative coherence
  • Start with square format to save credits while iterating, then switch to widescreen for the final version
  • The remix feature is great for exploring variations without starting from scratch
