How Comet Integrates AI into Browsing

Step 1: Type a Question

Enter a natural language question in the address bar, just like you would type a URL.

Step 2: Perplexity Searches the Web

Comet routes your question to Perplexity, which searches multiple sources and evaluates their relevance and authority.

Step 3: AI Synthesizes an Answer

Perplexity reads the top sources, extracts the key information, and composes a direct answer with inline citations.

Step 4: Answer Appears in the Browser

The cited answer appears directly in Comet. Click any citation to open the source page in a new tab for verification.

Step 5: Continue Browsing or Dig Deeper

Follow up with another question, open the AI sidebar for more context, or click through to source pages to read the full content.

Why AI native matters

Most browsers treat AI as an add on: a sidebar extension, a companion app, or a separate search engine you choose to visit. Comet takes the opposite approach by making AI search the default behavior of the browser itself. The address bar, the sidebar, the page interaction tools, and the tab manager all use Perplexity as their foundation. This means you never have to choose between browsing and searching; they are the same activity.

What you get without Perplexity Pro

Comet is fully functional without a Perplexity Pro subscription. You get AI search in the address bar, page summarization, the AI sidebar, ad blocking, cross platform sync, and tab management. Perplexity Pro ($20/month) unlocks unlimited Pro Search, Deep Research, image generation, and access to all AI models. The free experience is still significantly more capable than a standard browser.
